Boss Lady Enterprise is a start-up nonprofit community based organization founded and designed in 2011 by Darlena Swann. The organization provides personal and professional development for young girls and women in areas of leadership, health & wellness, and entrepreneurship to build confidence and character. The mission is to create economic and social enrichment through community outreach service while building a better community. Darlena’s goal is for Boss Lady Enterprise to be a pioneer in personal and professional brand development by creating social change and awareness. Diamonds and Pearls Mentoring Program

​Leadership and mentoring workshop sessions for young girls between ages 9 to 15 that promotes positive self image, leadership, health & fitness, educational goals, basic life skills and other core values. Teaching girls to become better role models within their communities while building self esteem and character.


Entrepreneurship
The process of designing and launching a product or service. Becoming a catalyst of change and discovering innovative ways for combining resources and utilizing them at the best advantage.

About


"Create your own niche" is Darlena Swann's motto, the founder and visionary of Boss Lady Enterprise, writer, speaker and former freelance model. She's a native of Pinehurst, North Carolina. In addition to North Carolina, she has lived in California, Massachusetts, and Ohio.


This talented individual received her undergraduate B.S. degree from East Carolina University and graduated Cum Laude from Strayer University with a Master of Business Administration. She has several years of experience in community volunteer service and a track record of youth involvement with 4-H program, Moore Buddies Governor's one-on-one mentoring program, youth advisor for civil rights, and a Girl Scouts program volunteer and leader. She additionally has five years of managerial experience in healthcare administration.


Darlena was inspired to envision Boss Lady Enterprise in response to her loss of four contract jobs in the same year, which caused some financial hardship and despair. Instead of focusing on the problem she began to focus more on solutions. She's always been fueled by social change and enjoys working within the community. Her passion for public service and youth mentorship was inspired by her mother who was an educator and community leader.


Despite the challenges she has faced in the job market, Darlena always wanted the opportunity to become her own boss and focus on doing something that's rewarding and provides fulfillment. What really motivates her is finding ways to reinvent herself while experiencing flexibility and freedom. Doing her spare time she enjoys traveling, reading, scrapbooking, yoga, aerobics, playing tennis, and listening to Jazz music.


Currently, Darlena is a proud supporter of the Girl Scouts, breast cancer awareness, and an advocate for health & fitness.  Also, she believes community volunteer service isn't  just about giving back for a cause, but willing to make a difference.
